hurne sw. m., einhorn st. m. n., nhd. Einhorn
n.; as. ēnhorn n., mndd. ēinhōrn n.m.; mndl.
eenhoorn m. n.; ae. ānhorn, -horna m.). Im
Falle von einhorno ist das Possessivkomposi-
tum wie auch sonst des öfteren mit dem Suffix
-an- erweitert; vgl. ae. ānhorna (s. Krahe-
Meid, Germ. Sprachwiss. III § 40, 1). Demge-
genüber deutet einhurno, mhd. einhürne, ae.
ānhyrne auf ein Komplexivkompositum (*ain-
χurnja-); vgl. einkurni. S. ein, horn. Ahd.
