fiorfuristo m. n-St., nur Gl. 1, 755, 3 (10./
11. Jh.; dat.pl. fiorfuristun): Befehlshaber,
Vorsteher von vier Mann, quaternio
(nhd.
Vierfürst; mndd. vērvörste). Diese Übersetzung
von quaternio, obgleich im späten Mittelalter
offenbar geläufig (vgl. Diefenbach, Gl. lat.-
germ. 478; Du Cange² VI, 605), paßt nicht
zum Kontext: quattuor quaternionibus militum
Act. 12, 4, wo quaternio eine Abteilung von
vier Mann
bedeutet. S. fior, furisto. S. auch
fioring. Ahd. Wb. III, 896; Splett, Ahd. Wb.
I, 236. 255; Köbler, Wb. d. ahd. Spr. 266;
Starck-Wells 154; Schützeichel, Glossenwort-
schatz III, 175.
